Roots in Steuben County
James and his two older brothers were raised in Hammondsport to lifelong Steuben County residents. James’ father owned a law practice in Bath, NY, while serving in multiple positions as an elected official. His mother taught for over 30 years in the Hammondsport School District (twice James’ teacher!), working tirelessly for her students and family.
Brought up by public servants, James learned early what it meant to be a member of your community. They set an example of service and hard work to provide for others and have pride in where you live.

Career in Client Services
After graduating from Cornell University, James held positions at the U.S. Department of Education, strategy and consulting firm Accenture, and a range of business and technology start-up companies.
In 2016, James joined the software company Salient Management Corp. in Horseheads. As a senior business consultant, he works with companies to visualize and analyze performance data. In short, he helps his clients look at how things are going and where they need to focus.

In 2020, James earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rochester.
In his County and Town leadership roles, James applies his business education and experience to identify issues, offer solutions, and implement action.
Community Connections
Since moving to Erwin in 2016, James and his wife, Maggie, have deeply connected to the community. The two share three sons: James Jr. (8), Samuel (6), and Henry (5). Their English Springer Spaniel Camper (2) makes sure there is never a quiet moment in their home.

James previously served on the Scouts Five Rivers Council Board (prior to consolidation) and is now a Den Leader for Pack 79. He has coached his oldest son’s Corning-Painted Post Little League team for three years.
Maggie was deeply involved in the Erwin Child and Family Center and now serves on the Corning Children’s Center Board. She is also an active Erwin Valley Elementary Parent Teacher Association member.
The family is members of First Presbyterian Church in Corning, NY.
